This week’s radio show was all about making a space to be creative in your life and how healing a thing creativity is. Being creative is not limited to the arts, and it’s important to know that you don’t have to be talented to be creative. Being creative has to do with using your imagination in the process of living your passion. And your passion could be anything – cooking, gardening, woodworking, cleaning house, taking walks, writing, singing with the radio, knitting, listening to music, collecting teapots, working out – there are as many ways to be creative as there are people on the planet. Finding your way is your gift to yourself. Kimm and I both spoke about our personal journey’s in creativity and how healing creativity is for each of us. I read two of my poems, which were written during a very dark time in my life, and talked about how writing them helped me cope. And Kimm, who has recently taken up collaging, talked about how much fun she is having using her imagination in that way. Being creative keeps you engaged and very much in the moment, and is a wonderful emotional outlet. We believe that all of us should find time for being creative, and that creativity is good for your emotional, mental, physical, and spiritual health.
